Have you ever heard of Sugru? If you haven’t you absolutely must read this…
Sugru in short is self-setting rubber invented by London’s RCA student and then developed together with team of product designers and material scientists.
Sugru might just be the greatest invention since the duct tape. I had strong doubts about the claims made before I got to actually use the stuff. Now I am a true convert, to the point of looking for any excuse to use it around the house.
It’s quite easy to manipulate it into the shape you want. Leave it for 24 hrs and you’re done. It is water proof, oven and freezer safe, quite flexible, sticks to almost any material and scent free after drying.
Saved me the cost of replacing my favourite kitchen knife after the handle got damaged (I used almost the whole 3 mini packs).
There are some minor gripes.
It has a limited shelf life, must use in 6 months. Although it’s recommended that you store in in the fridge to extend that time.
It’s difficult (though not impossible) to get a smooth good looking finish, especially as there is a 30 minute window to get the job done.
Sugru is sold in primary colours: yellow, blue, red, white and black but it would be nice to be able to buy green instead of having to mix yellow & blue.
I had strong doubts but now I’m a true convert!
