This is very versatile recipe that can be made in a slow cooker but also in a regular pot, depending on what you have at home.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 kg chicken wings (cut into 3 pieces)
- 3 large onions (chopped)
- 3 tbs grape seed oil
- 1 whole garlic (peeled & crushed)
- 3 cups easy cook rice
- 7 cups water / less for slow cooker
- 1 tbs dried dill or more if fresh or frozen.
- 1 tbs paprika powder
- ½ tbs dried smoked paprika
- 4 chicken cubes (10 g each)
- 250 g tomato purée
METHOD 1 (slow cooker)
- Place chicken, onions, garlic and oil in frying pan and fry until onions are golden brown.
- In meantime dissolve the cubes, dill, paprika and tomato purée in hot water to make a stock.
- Place onions and chicken, rice and stock in the slow cooker and cook according to the cooker settings for the rice / about 3 – 4 hours. Stir once or twice midway thought the cooking.
METHOD 2 (regular pot)
- Place chicken, onions, garlic and oil on the bottom of large pot and fry until onions are golden brown.
- In meantime dissolve the cubes, dill, paprika and tomato purée in hot water to make a stock.
- Add this mixture to the pot with onions, reduce fire and cook covered till chicken get soft.
- Then add rice, cook covered stirring from time to time until rice is ready.
Serves 5 – 6 people.
