Okra (Lady’s Finger) is a flowering plant with green fruits. The fruit can be up to 20 cm long, containing numerous seeds.
Okra is used like vegetable in many dishes in the Caribbean, Brazil, India, Japan but not only, see for instance: “Courgettes, Eggplants & Okra with Pasta”.
When buying okra look for light green and fresh looking fruits, dark green and dry okras (like those on the picture) will be too chewy to eat.
Okra leaves may be cooked or eaten raw in salads.
