This is my entry for July JFI – Tamarind event, that is taking place at Live To Eat blog by Sig.
I’m reposting this recipe especially for the event.
Tamarind Balls
[by Martin D]
INGREDIENTS
fresh sour tamarind (peeled)
brown cane sugar to taste
white sugar
METHOD
Mash tamarind with brown sugar, do not remove seeds.
Create about 4 cm wide balls, roll them in white sugar and enjoy.
You can store them for weeks even outside the fridge.
Thanks for reposting it for the event Margot… I love those cute little balls… I can have one any time of the day I think :)
OMG, I almost drooled  I used to love snacking on these but hadn’t found them at the Asian market I go to lately. Never thought about making them myself *duh*. I see the tamarind pods even at my local grocery store all the time.
Thank you for the comments.
I don’t see much sour tamarind in the stores here, but they are selling sweet tamarind, my daughter love to eat it.
I love this entry, great pic. easy recipe. and you have a neat blog here, love it!
