You can use those little motifs to decorate bigger projects or simply to attach to ready made outfits and products such as: hats, shirts, apple cosies, hair bands, pillow cases and anything else you may think of.
stitches used: chain (ch), single crochet (sc), double crochet (dc), half double crochet (hdc), slip stich (sl)
LITTLE FOUR PETAL FLOWERS
- Start with 5 ch, connect ends of the chain with sl to create a circle.
- Work 2 dc 1 sl 2 dc 1 sl 2 dc 1 sl 2 dc 1 sl into the circle to create little four petal flower.
BIGGER FOUR PETAL FLOWERS
- Start with 8 ch, connect ends of the chain with sl to create a circle.
- Work 1 sc 2 dc 1 sc into the circle to create one petal of the flower, continue like this 3 more times to finish the flower.
APPLES
- Start with 5 ch, connect ends of the chain with sl to create a circle.
- Work 5 ch and connect it with sl into the middle chain of the circle, work again 5 ch and connect with sl into middle chain of the foundation circle, on the opposite side than previously.
- Now work about 10 hdc into the space between foundation circle and the half a circle chain, do the same on the other side of the design.
- 4. Finish with sl and work 5 ch to create the leaf.
- 5. Work 1 sl 1 sc 1 dc 1 sc 1 sl into the leaf chain.
6. Optionally repeat the same again on the other side of the chain to make the leaf fuller.
Below you can see crochet tree that I made for group work at SWPAC workshops and where I used above motifs…
NOTES
Use thicker yarn or smaller crochet if the motif is too loose / flimsy.
